Current information on the coronavirus (COVID-19)

On March 11th, the WHO officially declared COVID-19 a pandemic threat with over 170 countries affected globally.

Pandemics (such as COVID-19) as well as consequences of events associated with official decrees are explicitly excluded from our standard travel insurance coverages. Concerns about possible infections or an increased risk of infection at the travel destination are also non-insurable events. We cannot offer any respective travel insurance products or reimburse any associated cancellation cost. We ask you to contact your travel operator / airline for further questions. In the event of a medical emergency, please contact the medical emergency hotline listed in your GTC.

Currently there are extensive entry restrictions in many countries. In addition, the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs has issued a worldwide travel warning. If the entry restrictions and/or the travel warning still exist at the time of your departure, no insurance cover will be provided. We recommend that you do not take out travel insurance if you do not wish to take this risk.
